Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does filmBUZZ only work at film festivals?

No. While festivals represent its primary focus, filmBUZZ also conducts research in markets outside of film festivals. For more information, please contact filmBUZZ.

2. If I submit a film to one of your partner festivals, is my data confidential?

filmBUZZ currently reserves the right to publish films’ BUZZ Scores™ in the same sense that a festival would reserve the right to publish the audience award ratings. However, filmBUZZ will NOT release your film’s detailed report without permission to anyone other than the filmmakers and/or the distributors who submitted the film to the festival. Should an outside party request your film’s data, you will be contacted by filmBUZZ for your permission before any information is released.

3. How do I order a filmBUZZ report?

If you know ahead of time that you will be at one of our partner festivals, you may request an order form by emailing us at info@filmbuzzmarketing.com. If your film has already been accepted, you will automatically receive this order form from us.

4. Is there a bias to conducting your research at film festivals?

filmBUZZ believes that conducting research at festivals actually reduces audience bias. Festival-goers are highly reflective of the independent film audience and are largely representative of the audience that would be recruited to an independent film test screening. Furthermore, unlike in traditional test screening research, festival-goers pay for their own tickets and are less inclined to inflate their reactions as a “thank you” for a complimentary ticket.

5. Do people actually fill out the surveys?

Yes, they do! Although many festival attendees gladly participate in filmBUZZ surveys as an opportunity to help both filmmakers and the festival, filmBUZZ augments audience participation through prize incentives and actively trains festival volunteers in methods of encouraging participation.

6. What is your partnership with Film Threat?

Film Threat is a strategic partner of filmBUZZ and currently publishes the top 5 documentary and narrative features from every festival that filmBUZZ attends.
